I receive an error message when I input "4 Stories?"

Q. Why do I receive an error message when I input "4 Stories?" 

A. Our system is limited to 3 stories. Construction over three stories falls into more of a commercial type of building, often involving materials and practices different from traditional "stick built" (Type V) construction. For a four-story building, one must often consider elevators, steel framing, etc. If the subject property is an actual four-story building and not a bottom-level subterranean basement or top-level attic that has been improved, and you are confident that it is of type V construction, using the "3-story" number will return a credible result.
